Celtics, Lakers, and Lost Bets

Posted on Friday 10 October 2008

Although I generally like to think of myself as a man of honor, I must admit that I’ve been severely lacking in this one instance. Way back in June when the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers were playing in the NBA Finals, I placed a bet on Kobe and the boys to win.

Obviously, they didn’t.

So now (only what? four months or so late) I’ve got to admit that my pal Heather knows more about basketball than me. She’s always full of insightful comments about Boston’s Big Ticket Kevin Garnett and reminders of Kobe’s eventful visit to Colorado. So here’s my public admission of choosing the wrong team.

I’ll have to keep my fingers crossed that this coming season will the one when the Zen Master Phil Jackson finally breaks Red Auerbach’s record for most championship rings.
