Kenyon Review Submission Tips

I’ve been a fan of The Kenyon Review for some time now. In addition to publishing the best of contemporary literature, the journal now has it’s own blog. The blog provides reading that is as worthy as the journal and they recently posted an entry that is near and dear to my heart: Notes from the Slush Pile.

In the post, Liz Lopatto provides a reminder of what we should do, and not do, when submitting to literary journals. I’m particularly fond of the instruction to start strong because “you are making a claim on the leisure time and the money of disinterested others. Turn them into interested others as quickly as possible.”

Check out the rest of the blog entry for more reminders on how to submit your work professionally.

Can I say how much I love that cover? I may print out the quote- with so many options for entertainment books or stories have to grab hold and not let go.
