New Orleans Public Library Seeking Assistance

Posted on Friday 24 February 2006

The New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) website maintains a listing of arts related opportunities. Often, these opportunities are juried art competitions, but they also include listings for any activity or service that might be relevant to artistic folks. I just learned about the NYFA’s post regarding book donations to the New Orleans Public Library. The appeal states that the library system, decimated in Hurricane Katrina, is seeking “any and all hardcover and paperback books for people of all ages in an effort to restock the shelves after Katrina. The staff will assess which titles will be designated for its collections. The rest will be distributed to destitute families or sold for library fundraising.” Check out the NYFA post for mailing information.

Meanwhile, I also looked at the New Orleans Public Library Foundation’s website and they also provide several ways you can help. Please do what you can.
