Maybe Folks Just Don’t Like Mothers as Fish

Maybe my hero William Faulkner just ain’t what America wants. Seems like Oprah’s touch is back. Publishers Weekly is reporting that Vintage announced 85,000 copies of James Frey’s A Million Little Pieces since Oprah’s endorsement was announced 4 days ago.

Maybe if Faulkner had been cutting up lines “on a bevel” instead of coffins, he would have gone over better.

    Except.
A line of blow is not square like a crosstie.
    Animal magnetism.
The animal magnetism of a line of blow makes the stress come slanting, so the sides and edges of a line are made on the bevel.
You can see by an old coke-besmirched CD case that the coke sinks down on the bevel.
While on the surface of a mirror it sinks by the center, the stress being up-and-down.
So I chopped it on the bevel.
    It makes a neater line.
